Cookie Policy

What Motolines stores on your device, and why.

We set one cookie. The rest of what we keep on your device is browser storage for things like your cart and your theme. We don't run advertising trackers or third-party analytics, so there is no consent banner and nothing to opt out of.

1. The cookie we set

auth-token keeps you signed in. It is created when you log in and removed when you log out, and it expires after 30 days. It is HttpOnly, so no script on the page can read it, and it is only ever sent to Motolines.

Without it you can't stay signed in, see your orders, or check out. This is the only cookie our site sets.

2. Browser storage (not cookies)

These stay in your browser's local storage. They are read by the site as you use it, not attached to every request the way a cookie is:

  • Light or dark theme, language, and currency
  • Your cart
  • Your wishlist and saved comparisons
  • Vehicles you save in My Garage

Clearing site data in your browser deletes all of it, including your cart and saved vehicles.

3. Usage events

We record basic activity on our own servers: page views, product views, and items added to a cart. Each visit gets a random id that is generated in your browser, held in session storage, and gone when you close the tab. The id says nothing about you. It only lets us count how many separate visits an event came from.

4. Other companies

  • Tap handles payment on its own hosted page. We never see your card details. Tap sets its own cookies on its own domain under its own policy.
  • Google is involved only if you choose to sign in with a Google account. That step happens on Google's pages and uses Google's cookies.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, remarketing tags, or device fingerprinting.

5. Blocking cookies

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies from its privacy settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge all have one). If you block ours, you won't be able to sign in or place an order. Blocking local storage empties your cart on every page load.

6. Changes to this policy

If we start storing anything else on your device, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
